Business Development Director Food & Nutrition Solutions (3000-12FG)

At Synthetic Genomics, Inc., we are dedicated to developing and commercializing genomic-driven solutions to address global challenges. We are currently seeking a Business Development Director for Food & Nutrition to join our fast-growing, dynamic and collaborative team in La Jolla, CA.

Responsibilities:

As the Business Development Director of Food & Nutrition Solutions you will support the development and implementation of our business strategy, more specifically be responsible for:

• Explore, understand, monitor and evaluate the potential food and nutrition market for SGI
• Assess market needs and internal capabilities, identifying potential food & nutrition opportunities
• Establish and nurture relationships with potential partners and customers. Structure and negotiate deals
• Elaborate techno-economic simulations and analysis for decision making
• Elaborate business plans and development & commercialization road maps for food & nutrition opportunities
• Prepare executive presentations to present food & nutrition opportunities
• Lead project management activities in the food & nutrition area
• Effectively lead and participate on project teams, working in collaboration with a full range of internal and external parties

Qualifications:

• MBA degree from top-tier business school required
• Science degree in the field of Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or Biochemistry or other related science. Understanding of food science and food technology required
• At least 7 years of solid experience including strategy, business development and project management in the biotechnology space
• Financial and business acumen and proven skills for commercially successful business relationships
• Self-motivation, strong analytical, team work and communications skills
• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
